This week I was interviewed by for an article in Soul magazine about why there is more single women than ever before. And it was so weird because I had been thinking about the masculine and the feminine in new ways over the last two weeks and had this discussion with a few women.
My basic inspiration for this world view comes from watching an interview with Steven Ross on the Conscious Media Network about Beauty. At some point early in the interview he begins to explain how it is the devine feminine in the world has created beauty, love and harmony not the masculine. “The great poets, musicians, philosophers that have brought beauty in the world, whether they are men or women. It came from the feminine side of the being, not the the male, masculine side. And so when we look at intuition, healing, perception, that comes from the feminine side of the nature. And for women to abandon and not to understand who they are is bringing the (human) race down in the opposite direction it could be going. Because the male does not produce beauty, the male does not produce art. And we’re talking about the masculine energy. Of course males do but it’s that feminine side. And it does not mean somebody is effeminate or gay. It just means that this is the creative beautiful side.”
He goes further, “when we have people pushing their children, the girls to being the next great golfer, rather than the piano, the violin, music, the (human) race is not going to its highest and best direction. And that’s the words I use; there is no right or wrong, it’s highest and best. This whole concept where women is not appreciated is a shame, it’s is a travesty.” Steven Ross concluded with the story of Hypathia, the librarian of Alexandria, in the ancient school of Pythagoras.
So what does this all mean? Well to make it really, really simple think of the act of creation like this: females give birth to offspring not males. So even in the biological sense it’s the female of the species which is responsible for creation and the male cannot create on it’s own. Even in the ancient Chinese Taoist philosophy the Yin energy is always associated with the feminine. So for example if you think of how Picasso, the great 20th century artist, was known to be a womanizer. In this sense what happens if you remove the women from his life? Do you think he would still be the great Picasso? Nope! There is a direct link between the feminine inspiration to great artists, poets, authors, philosophers like Beethoven, Nietzsche, Pablo Neruda and others.
Now I’ve previously written about why you should not date or marry a career women. A quick glance at Fortune magazine’s annual list of powerful women and you realise these women are exactly the kind of masculine women I’m talking about. The vast majority of men would be repulsed by them for this reason alone. More and more I am meeting very successful women who are leaders in their fields and find themselves single, never married, in their 30s. And on the exterior they purport to be okay with this but as soon as I dig deeper I find a deep desire to be married or even just in a healthy romantic relationship.
In conclusion, think about some of these women and how feminine or masculine you perceive them:
| Masculine | Feminine |
| Da Brat (or most female Rappers) | Beyonce |
| Hillary Swank | Kate Winslet |
| Pink (Alecia Beth Moore) | Faith Hill |
| Michelle Rodriguez |
Penelope Cruz |
| Most Business Women | Most Supermodels |
