Sean Burke’s new video - The Last Dayz

I’ve had the privilege of viewing a new music video by South African musician, Sean Burke.

The video entitled Last Dayz, is Men in Black meets The Matrix. This is superb 3D animation with a big focus on the quality of small details. The video is due to be play listed on MTV and it will be the first time ever a South African music video will be featured on MTV. Sean is certainly breaking new ground with this video and release of his latest album, Eludaquit. On Monday, 27 October 2003, Sean Burke will be featured in the The Star Tonight, the daily entertainment supplement of The Star, Gauteng’s most popular daily newspaper.

Meeting Mangosuthu Buthelezi and Marthinus van Schalkwyk

Last night I attended the annual celebration of the Chinese Revolution at the Sandton Sun Hotel. The event was formal and everyone was wearing expensive suits and the (mostly Chinese) ladies beautiful dresses. My good friends Selwyn and Italo from the Preview Theatre invited me along. I also met Richard and Francis from my Table Tennis Club. Later on my met a new friend Diamond Singlima Si who represents the Taiwanese Independence Party. There is a long history of conflict over the independence of Taiwan from mainland China.

As I entered the Sandton Sun Hotel I spotted Tony Leon, leader of the Democratic Alliance, behind me. I didn’t see him again later on but looked forward to meeting more “important” people. After hooking up with Diamond we prowled the room to find “important” people to meet. We soon ran into Marthinus van Schalkwyk aka “Kortbroek“, the leader of the New National Party. The highlight of the even was talking briefly with the pious Mangosuthu Buthelezi, leader of the Inkatha Freedom Party.

Chinese Revolution

Tai Chi Master Jet LiTo my surprise I have been invited by Selwyn Klaas from the Preview Theatre, to participate in the celebration of the Chinese Revolution on 10 October 2003 at Sandton Sun Hotel. You can read this article from the South African Communist Party’s website about the 50th anniversary of the Chinese Revolution. This is very exciting as I have long held an interest in Chinese culture and history.

While I was growing up I was teased for looking Chinese. Back then I hated it but I’ve learned to turn it to my advantage! Two years ago I started doing Tai Chi classes. My first exposure to this ancient internal martial art was from a Jet Li in the movie called The Tai Chi Master. Then in Cape Town during 1999 I learned more about the health benefits of Tai Chi that makes it the perfect exercise.
