Remembering Bill Gibson

Back in 2017, I was living in Beijing and took a quick trip back to South Africa to celebrate my birthday with my family. So I usually stop by Nino’s Rosebank in Johannesburg. And someone I know stopped me cold by telling me Bill Gibson had recently passed away. This is a long overdue post about remembering Bill Gibson, international speaker from Canada, who lives in South Africa for many years.
I met Bill Gibson through his son, Ryan Gibson, who was hosting Tweet-ups in Johannesburg. Eventually, I started hosting these Tweet-ups as well, and we got friendly over time. Bill eventually gave me and my former personal assistant, Yusuf Moses, a set of his marketing CDs. It was among the best audio courses I’ve ever listened to. Yusuf still speaks about meeting this marketing genius and legend when we meet in Uitenhage, where he is now teaching ABET.
Have a look at this book by Bill Gibson: 7 Principles to Double Your Income.
This blog post should have been published back in 201,7, but for some reason, I was just too emotional to ever finish it. It’s been 8 years since he passed away, and he surely was one of the best speakers I’ve ever met in South Africa.
Some advice shared by Bill Gibson:
We all need what you are requesting! 🙂 Something that works for me! Paper and pen, or use a laptop/iPad, etc. Then you work with “outer me” OM and “Inner Me”. Then, in writing, have the IM listen to the OM. Have the IM use active listening, e.g., ‘So, what you are saying…’ ‘You’re feeling overwhelmed, tell me about it…’ ‘Not sure what to do…’ ‘You like this, but not sure about that…’ ‘You’ve been here before, what worked in the past…’ etc. The Om has to continually peel the onion to get to the core answers. The IM remains kind and caring yet focused on helping you (OM) find the truth and best solutions. Above all, “Make Reality Your Friend and Overcome Denial”…find your truth…not someone else’s truth. Blessings! 🙂
