How not to network videos

Peter Diamandis on Stephen Hawking in zero gravity

It feels like yesterday that I met Professor Stephen Hawking in Cape Town at the AIMS 2008 graduation and the launch of the Next Einstein project. While at this event I spoke at length with Pik Both, former minister of Foreign Affairs and he related how he had met Stephen Hawking in the 1990s. And they struck up a friendship around science and exploration. Pik told me that when Hawking was in his 20s he was lying in a hospital bed and another person opposite him died. And at that moment I realised how precious life was and dedicated himself to exploring the most complex problems facing humanity. And as is the nature of all true scientists he has never stopped working on these challenge of understanding the universe. And what really inspires me, having read his book 10 years ago without understanding what I read, is to re-read a Brief History of Time and his follow-up The Universe in a Nutshell.

Anyway here’s a video from TED 2008 where X Prize founder Peter Diamandis talks about how he helped Stephen Hawking fulfill his dream of going to space — by flying together into the upper atmosphere and experiencing weightlessness at zero g. It is no coincidence Stephen Hawking played himself in a Star Trek TNG episode.

Fake Breasts….who really likes them?

A question for guys and girls….

There are two girls sitting at a bar. Both are attractive. The only difference is one has natural small breasts like those of Keira Knightley (an A cup maybe smaller). The other has giant fake boobs. Which one would you take? See what we found…

Why do skinny girls have fat friends? Khaya Dlanga has the answer…

Khaya Dlanga is probably South Africa’s top video blogger. His Youtube channel has over 10,000 subscribers. So he recently posted this awesome video about why skinny girls may have fat friends. His conclusion is that skinny girls have fat friends because it makes them feel better about themselves. On a more practical level when they go out together the skinny girl will get hit on more because most guys are not going to approach the fat girl first. Anyway decide for yourself if you concur with Khaya’s theory after watching his video featuring several interviews with girls around his office, all of whom seem to be thin.

Ever heard Israel Kamakawiwo’ole singing Somewhere over the Rainbow?

Israel Kamakawiwo'ole Facing the FutureIsrael Kamakawiwo'ole Facing the FutureWell up until this weekend I never heard of this guy. However, like me you it is very likely you have heard his medley of Somewhere over the Rainbow/What a wonderful world. Israel was an award winning Haywain singer who lived from 20 May 1959 to 26 June 1997.

What a coincidence tomorrow is 20 May so happy birthday IZ, wherever you are. You have given us all a blessing with your music. You have been a superb example of what is means to be a human being. Your passion and love shines through your music every time it is used a movie. “Somewhere over the rainbow/What a wonderful world” was used at the end of the Forbidden Kingdom (Jet Li, Jackie Chan), which I watched this past weekend. Anyway here’s the brilliant tribute to IZ. If you find yourself shedding a few tears like I did, don’t worry be happy…

Jill Bolte Taylor’s powerful stroke of insight

This must be one of the most amazing stories someone has lived to tell. The experience described by Dr Jill Bolte Taylor is doing the rounds on the Web because of how powerfully she delivered her story at the TED 2008 Conference. For me it was a fascinating talk because it is east meets west or in her words left brain meets right brain talk. (more…)

South African born Dr Neil Turok wants the next Einstein to be from Africa

This is the message that makes TED such a powerful platform. As a TEDGlobal 2007 Fellow I am still speechless when I think of the amazing opportunity of becoming a part of this community. In a strange way its a very exclusive club but it’s also making a very public impact since they started publishing these videos on their website.

Dr Neil Turok was born in South Africa. His parents was involved in the anti-Apartheid struggle and eventually moved to Kenya and later to England. He now counts Professor Stephen Hawking as his peer at Cambridge University but it’s his work in Africa, with the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) that has won his the very prestigious TED 2008 Prize. The TED Prize is a US$100 000 cash prize, and a TED wish during the acceptance speech.

Remember the next TED Africa conference is happening in Cape Town in September – 1 October 2008. Anyway here’s the video of Dr Neil Turok’s very inspiring acceptance speech at TED 2008:

Zan Perrion interviewed by Men's Health magazine in Cape Town

Zan Perrion, one of the most respected teachers from the seduction community, visited Cape Town about a year ago. My friend Lloyd de Jongh actually met him in person. The basic feedback was that Zan comes from a different world than the average guy. However, its clear he has spent over 20 years becoming a natural with women. Anyway decide for yourself if this video clip has any concepts of ideas that moves you…

Ross Jeffries on Meeting Women Anywhere

Ross Jeffries, the grandfather of the seduction community, has excellent little titbits her shares from time to time. This one is certainly a gem for the newcomers or the very inexperienced guys out there. The idea of a pre-opener is something I’ve not seen before but it strikes a cord because its totally harmless. And if you are a shy guy this is one tool in your arsenal you cannot go without.

Anyway I’ll let Ross Jeffries describe it in his own words here…
