I am honoured and inspired by you. We are truly kindred spirits, rallying to make this world a better place. A place that is better for you, for me and for everyone! It takes one small gesture to change the destiny of humanity. Wayne Dyer once said ‘Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change’
Once upon a time there was a band of photographers that travelled the length and breadth of Africa taking pictures that highlighted the plight of humanity in Africa. Idealistic men they were, they had worldwide recognition for their art, nerve and daring.
And then, one of them took a photo of a little girl. Let’s imagine her name is Desta. She could have eventually grown into young Sudanese teenager dressed in eye catching gear with the latest iPod tunes and cell phone in her shoulder day pack taking the time to check her appearance in the mall window after netball practice. She joins her family for dinner before she completes her assignment for her final matric exams. Sadly this life was never destined for her! Her life was to serve a higher purpose. Her life is a call for you and I to take a stand for humanity.
But the picture he took was of a Desta, who only endured four bone-dry summers, now hunched over, in a squat, her stick like arms wrapped around bulbous & bony knees hardly supporting a large head and pole of a neck. 22 kg of naked dry Zombie kebab. Only Dust devils for friends doing their endless Dervish dance. Deep orbits for sunken eyes hide the beyond sorrow and despair. Now ironically, Desta mean happiness. She can’t even cry away the endless flies that want to lay eggs in the sores on her face. There are many thousands of children and families just like Desta and they DO matter and they CAN be assisted by me and you in ways that are easy and fulfilling.
Not only did the picture of Desta serve a purpose, so did Kevin Carters life. Kevin Carter was the photo journalist who took this picture and in fact in 1994 he won the Pulitzer Prize for it and for a short while the prize was a source of pride for him and his family. However the picture was at once very controversial and he was asked, “Why didn’t you do something about it?” and it became a source of depression for him to the point where he took his own life. I believe that the pictures that Kevin took can inspire us to do great things for people like Desta and help her to live the meaning of her name, HAPPINESS.
The moment we become aware of the plight of people, we have little option, but to help. So why am I telling you this?
Because, you and I can make a difference in the life of Desta and her family and we CAN do it together. Her life of despair is sad and seems hopeless, Yet, there is hope.
How can this be possible?
There IS a way and I will show you how and it is very do- able.
You and I can be the bridge between this child of despair and this healthy child that you just imagined that is blossoming with life purpose. It just takes that first step of intention. Ask yourself the question, Do I, if I had the power to make a change in the life of a child like Desta? Would I do something? Well I have a plan, and we CAN do it!

Hear my Clarion call. Join me in making a huge difference in the lives of people like Desta and their families who also deserve to enjoy dignity and the joy of clean fresh water. Just like you and your family do today and all of the tomorrows to come.
I look forward to your call. Lets sit down and chat. The water that we bathe in and take our showers, fill our pools and flush down our toilets is the source of life for emaciated people in Africa and indeed everyone.
Do you want to live in a world where wrongs are made right or can you live with the regret of knowing that you could have actually made a difference and chose not to?
